"Benefactors" or mentors (贵人) are associated with the Nobleman Star (Tian Yi Gui Ren) and a well-supported Resource Star.
If you rarely encounter helpful mentors:
- Your chart may lack the Nobleman Star, meaning you need to consciously seek and cultivate mentorship rather than waiting for it to appear
- Your Resource Star may be weak or absent, suggesting you're wired for self-reliance — which is a different gift
- You may be in a Luck Cycle that suppresses your Resource energy, temporarily reducing visible support
The practical solution: actively build relationships with people whose element matches your Useful God. If you need Wood, seek mentors in growth-oriented fields. The Nobleman Star makes benefactors appear spontaneously; without it, you simply need to recruit them intentionally. Both work.
