That answer is your Useful God (Yong Shen). It’s not a deity. It’s the element that brings your entire chart into harmony.

If your Day Master is too weak — bullied by Officers, drained by Output — it needs Resource or Companion to survive. If it’s too strong — bursting with Friends and unchecked by any Officer — it needs Wealth or Output to channel the overflow.
The Useful God is the element that does this job. When it appears in your luck cycles or years, doors open. Health improves. Mood lifts.
🔍 How to Find It
- Measure your Day Master’s strength: seasons, surrounding elements, Earthly Branch roots.
- Identify the dominant God that causes suffering.
- Choose the element that neutralizes that oppressor.
Example: A weak Fire Day Master born in winter, drowning in Water (Officer/7K). The Useful God is Wood — it feeds Fire and absorbs Water. Every Wood year is a breath of warmth.
